African Greys are notorious for their mimicking ability, often causing people to place a lot expectation on their eventual performance. Greys are referred to as the most intelligent, the best speakers, the most neurotic and among the shyest of companion parrot species. They out talk many other parrot species.

There are two sub-speecies of Afican Grey parrots. There are the Congo and the Timneh.
The only difference between them is there physical appearance. The Timneh is the smaller of the two and often have darker feathers. There is no evidence to show there is any difference to there inteligence.

African Grey's have the intellectual capacity of a 5 year old child with the emotions of a 2 year old. Because of this higher intelligence, they can be demanding pets and rightly so. They require constant attention along with a stimulating environment that includes various types of toys, a large cage, a play-stand.
